  • Providing shade to lower temperatures for golfers and fans
  • Providing wildlife habitat
  • Providing shelter from winds
  • Filtering dust
  • Providing seclusion

REAL ESTATE AGENTS

How can The Care of Trees help my clients sell their homes more easily?

You bring value to your clients by helping them through the intricate process of buying or selling a home and working with them to get the best price. The Care of Trees brings value by improving the health and aesthetics of trees and shrubs, making a potential home or property sale more probable. Because a healthier landscape increases home value, your clients have an opportunity to obtain top dollar for their properties while helping you increase your commission and referrals. Even relatively minor expenditures on landscape improvements can pay off.

What value do trees bring to your client’s property?

Trees and landscaping can add up to 15 percent to a property’s value. A single mature tree can be worth anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000, depending on the type, condition, location and age.

What do trees have to do with curb appeal?

You’re the first to know that prospective buyers decide if they are interested in a home within the first two minutes of seeing it. Trees and landscaping have everything to do with that first impression, adding immensely to a home’s curb appeal. They can add as much as 15 percent to a home’s value.

When you work with The Care of Trees you benefit from the professionally trained arborists we have to care for your trees. Doesn’t a home inspection include the trees?

As for buyers, many know the importance of having a professional home inspector evaluate the condition of a house before buying it. But they don’t know it doesn’t include a tree inspection, which is key. Just as a home can have defects invisible to the untrained eye, trees can have hidden defects that can make them hazardous or costly to maintain. If a tree is structurally unsound, the buyer may need to remove it—possibly at a cost of several thousand dollars. Determining potential problems up front can help buyers negotiate.

DEVELOPERS & BUILDERS

How can we make it easier for you?

We know your process and understand your challenges. As a regular member and attendee to such groups as the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) we understand the barriers and objectives trees can bring to a site. We make it easier for you to achieve your objectives by understanding the impact trees have on the landscape.

How can you help me develop my building plan?

The Care of Trees has been working with national developers and contractors for more than 40 years to help make trees a differentiating element of their design.

What types of services do you offer specifically for tree preservation on a site?

Planning Site Visit and Assessment

The Care of Trees will be involved with initial feasibility studies. We will assist in assessing the existing vegetation and evaluate options for key tree preservation.

Site Monitoring

The Care of Trees professionally trained arborists could conduct periodic site visits to ensure compliance with tree preservation requirements. Prompt response shall be made to requests by owners’ representatives, which effects the survival of trees to be preserved.

Removals

Supervision of tree and brush removal for right-of-way, utility corridor and construction envelopes as needed to minimize damage to adjacent tree canopies, root systems, and natural areas. All debris may be removed from site. Accessible stumps more than 6 inches in diameter will be ground down below ground level. Do not backfill.

Root Pruning

Root pruning will be to a depth of approximately 2 feet or depth of excavation as conditions dictate. A narrow trencher will be used to prune roots with sharp clean cuts.
An on-site meeting with the landscape architect and engineer is required to establish a field layout of the extent of root pruning required for accessible trees.

Pruning & Cabling

All pruning will conform to ANSI A-300 Part 1-2001 industry pruning standards. The majority of significant, preserved trees as marked on the tree preservation plan will receive crown cleaning by pruning dead, diseased, broken limbs and stubs greater than 2 inches in diameter from throughout the canopy to reduce falling limb hazards, improve structure, create clearance, and limit the advancement of decay. A professionally trained arborist will supervise all pruning activities. All debris may be removed from site. Installation of cables, if necessary, will follow specifications found in NAA Standards.

Soil Modification

Promoting plant vigor is the key to minimizing stress during construction activities and limiting insect and disease susceptibility.. Sub-surface soil injections have the added benefit of reducing soil compaction, a problem noted for many trees on construction sites. All products will be applied in strict adherence with the manufacturer’s label instructions and applicable to state and federal law.

Which type of equipment capabilities do you have?

With more than 200 pieces of specialized tree care preservation equipment, we stand ready and well-equipped to take care of the trees on your site.

Is your work insured?

Tree care is one of the most dangerous professions in the U.S., particularly if performed by amateurs or untrained personnel. Statistics show that performing tree care is more dangerous than working for a police or fire department. Every year homeowners are injured or killed trying to do their own tree work. They should not perform tree work involving climbing of any kind, work from a ladder to prune a tree, or attempt to fell (cut-down) trees. The Care of Trees is fully insured to cover worker’s compensation, property damage and personal liability in case of accidents.
