Plant Health Care Coordinator – Elmsford, NY


Performs all supervisory functions of the integrated pest management program (IPM), including administration, scheduling, inspections, sampling, treatments, inventories, equipment maintenance, record keeping, report writing, and client relations. Ensure client satisfaction through regular surveillance of all technician’s application work on the job sites. This position also includes serving as tree and plant health care technician with the responsibility of monitoring, evaluating, and providing the plant health care needs on client properties. Will be responsible to handle and investigate more critical pest-management needs. Practices and has advanced understanding of plant science and above-average plant and pest diagnostic identification skills. Will be expected to have excellent plant and tree diagnosis, identification, deficiencies, and problem solving skills.

In some cases submits various types of soil samples to be sent in for diagnostic purposes. Follows directions from the district manager of work orders to be scheduled with technicians for various applications. Ensures that all company policies regarding safety, storage, and handling of all herbicide, fungicide, and pesticide spray products are followed. Has advanced knowledge of products and techniques used to maintain plant health and tree care. Thoroughly understands and practices the correct mixing ratios and transportation procedures. Utilizes all appropriate safety protective equipment to adhere to the company’s safety policy. Maintains all required record keeping and reporting procedures for order processing and inventory purposes. Occasionally may work as a member of a tree care crew, under the district manager’s supervision when PHC work is minimal (off-season). Actively participates and may coordinate frequent safety trainings for PHC. May interact though follow-up with clients to ensure client satisfaction. This position may be designated as either district or regional.

Requirements:

  • Must have at least two years of tree and plant field experience
  • Must have local applicator spray licenses
  • Must have or obtain valid CDL license
  • Must be able to identify and recognize local trees and shrubs Pathology, Entomology, and knowledge of tree physiology are necessary to diagnose care options properly
  • Advanced experience in soil analysis procedures
  • Must perform general tree care during the off-season
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to lead by example, supervise, and give directions effectively to all team members
  • Follow, abide, and lead in all safety rules and policies of The Care of Trees
  • Ability to delegate PHC work effectively to PHC Techs
  • Must be courteous and friendly if approached by property owners
  • Participates regularly in all job site safety meetings
  • Learns and understands the dangers associated with electrical hazards
  • Advanced knowledge of PHC application tools associated with the trade
  • Ability to multi-task and make realistic decisions for the team
  • Maintain safe work conditions and practices at all times
  • Effectively coach, motivate, develop, and train other employees
  • Bachelor Degree preferred but not required
